In Milan, the Almaty 2017 Winter Universiade Organizing Directorate Director Nail Nurov discussed organizational issues for the international student games with the Winter Universiade 2013 Secretary General in Province of Trento Filippo Bazzanella.
As is known, the Winter Universiade 2013 was held in Province of Trento, Italy. Students from 700 universities took part in the competitions. More than 1700 students from 51 countries competed in 12 sport disciplines. There were 12 cities from Province of Trento involved in organization of the games.
Operational budget of the Universiade 2013 amounted 5 million 125 thousand Euro (EUR). This is one of the most economical budget in the history of winter games.
“The experience of Trento is very important for the Almaty 2017 WU, especially in terms of optimization of the expenses. Despite the economical budget Trento was able to stage a high level event. We hope that experience of Trentino will give us a key to organize a low-cost Universiade and adjust our plans”, – WU 2017 Director Nail Nurov noted.
In turn, the WU 2013 Secretary General noted that preparation for the Almaty 2017 WU proceeds in accordance with the requirements of the International University Sports Federation.
“I am convinced that Almaty will host the best Universiade in FISU history. The recent Heads of Delegation Meeting gives us a reason to say so. Professional team is in charge of the organization of the Winter Universiade in Almaty. I am sure that this event will give impetus to development of sport in your city”, Filippo Bazzanella noted.
The Winter Universiade 2013 Secretary General mentioned the Italian city Turin as an example, which host the Winter Olympic Games in 2006, and Winter Universiade in 2007. After hosting such competitions, the number of foreign students teaching according to sport disciplines exceeded by 10 times in Tourin and Trentino.
During the meeting, the sides also discussed issues concerning transportation, food, function of the Main Operations Center, organization of opening and closing ceremonies and cultural part of the Universiade.
